Spearfish Canyon, South Dakota, is a beautiful 22 mile drive. Fishing, hiking and rock climbing are among the many things available to do here. A very popular dive for people attending the Sturgis Bike Rally. Even parts of Dances with Wolves was filmed there.
It is located near Spearfish, and Deadwood, South Dakota.
I digital painted the canyon to resemble the old oil paintings that I remember seeing over my grandparents couch.
I am originally from Madeira,Ohio. Currently I live outside of Custer, South Dakota in the middle of cattle country. The beautiful Black Hills are my playground and inspiration. Living here I have an endless supply of forest to play in, along with all the amazing animals and old barns to photograph. I grew up as an Air Force brat and traveled the world with my parents experiencing life. We spent countless hours exploring castles, art galleries and every church and monument we could find!
