This beautiful white perennial flowering plant is in the family Begoniaceae. The genus name Begonia, coined by Charles Plumier, a French patron of botany, honors Michel Bégon, a former governor of the French colony of Saint-Domingue, now Haiti.
The white Begonias meaning is pure innocence. Currently there are over 1,839 species of Begonias.

I am originally from Madeira,Ohio. Currently I live outside of Custer, South Dakota in the middle of cattle country. The beautiful Black Hills are my playground and inspiration.
